Low Budget Publications
Bařina, Karel ; Hanzalová, Markéta (referee) ; Macháček, Mikuláš (advisor)
Artist’s book named „For example like this“ should be a guide for design beginners as well as for advanced graphic designers. The book is adressing problems and ambiguities around designing a publication which designers often have to deal with and which shouldn’t be forgotten. It is also a guide in the case that a designer chooses to craft a book on his/her own.
Artists Books and the Alternative Way of Addressing Readers
Pokorná, Gabriela ; Landová, Marcela (referee) ; Macháček, Mikuláš (advisor)
In my bachelor´s thesis I created a set of author´s stories and selected poems. I created a book titled 13 little gold flies and a set of promotional materials. However these materials should not promote the book superficially, but they're aimed to adress potentional readers, who will only find the core of the project - author's book - if they decide to react.

The Book
Novotná, Barbora ; Šrámek, Jan (referee) ; Vaněk, Vojtěch (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with creating an author's book, which, thanks to the absence of any text or illustration, balances the border between an object, a toy and its book form. Thematically, it deals with the play of light and shadow, fragility, delicacy and interactivity, which are processed using spiderwebs, and presented in an atlas format. The individual webs are sewn into the paper. When opened, a three-dimensional (pop-up) effect emerges, which in a light source forms another web of thin shadows that change when the book is being manipulated.
Everything I ever wanted to write but was afraid to draw
Polák, Tadeáš ; Havlík, Vladimír (referee) ; Vlková, Veronika (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis takes the form of an author's book called Pesůňova cesta and is a colourfully illustrated story of a five-day journey of a fictional animal, half dog and half horse - pesůň. In the twenty-seven short chapters of the book he discovers the world and himself. The book oscillates between genres and collage-like changes of form, and it is impossible to say clearly what age group of readers it is aimed at, in the words of the writer Kurt Vonnegut, so perhaps "anyone who might be interested". The work is the result of the author's long-standing interest in the written word, drawing and illustration, and self-publishing books and zines.
